Aim and Activities
Our aim is to facilitate recovery from disease condition, and to help preventing disease through nutritional supports and advises. Nutritional care (treatment) is fundamental for all patients. Malnutrition hampers recovery from diseases. In addition, in modern life, over-nutrition is one of the most important factors to predispose people to the life-style related diseases, such as obesity, atherosclerosis and diabetes mellitus.
We provide individualized nutritional care through assessment of the individual patients’ nutritional state and disease condition.
Research and education for the better nutritional care are also our commitments.
In the past, our division belonged to the management department of the University Hospital, and main task was considered to provide patients with meals. However, as awareness of the importance of nutritional supports as one of the treatment modalities, our division was transformed in 2004 to be a clinical division that directly involves in patient care.
We organize Nutritional Support Team (NST) with multiple medical and co-medical staffs such as doctors, dentists, dietitians, pharmacists, nurses and clinical laboratory technologists. In 2008, we extended NST services to patients in all clinical departments. Upon consultation, we visit patients and find solutions from the nutritional aspects.

- (4) Education and enlightenment of nutrition to the community.
- (5) Investigation of nutritional care and treatments.
- (6) Instruction and supervision of consignee.
- (7) Statistic analyses of services and activities of the division.
- (8) Other services and activities related to clinical nutrition.
