As the only tertiary medical care center on dentistry in Yamaguchi Prefecture, our services are focused on the various diseases in the oral and maxillofacial region such as cancer, injury, congenital anomaly (cleft lip and palate), dentofacial deformity, temporomandibular disorder, infection, mucous disorder, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) and so on. We are bringing these diseases under our control and providing reconstructed oral and maxillofacial function. Especially, we often adopt the microsurgery for the reconstruction after the treatment of oral cancer, and the treatment is followed by advanced dental treatment like dental implants, distraction osteogenesis, bone grafting and/or regeneration and so on for the best functional solution. We have set up “Dental Implant Center”, a designated facility of advanced medical care for dental implants in 2009. We can immediately correspond to any oral and maxillofacial injury by a close network with the Advanced Medical Emergency Critical Care Center (AMEC3) in the hospital. We are also presenting the inpatient treatment system for the dentofacial deformity and cleft lip and palate. For the OSAS, we have the diagnostic equipment in our department and can provide total care from diagnosis to treatment as a dentist. In addition, we can correspond to both outpatient and inpatient dental treatment for handicapped people to answer the expectation in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Moreover, we present dental treatment for inpatients in other departments and give priority to the oral care for preoperative, prechemotherapic and pretransplanting patients or compromised hosts. We have an oral care unit in our department and round the ward. These treatments have achieved success to reduce treatment time and improve safety in the medical treatment. We have also established a dysphagia team under the NST (nutrition support team) with department of otorhinolaryngology, nutrition, rehabilitation and nursing. We can provide a high quality dental prosthesis immediately and the highest level of oral care at anytime by a fulltime dental technician and 3 dental hygienists in our department.
