Yamaguchi University Hospital was designated the Yamaguchi Prefecture Liver Disease Center in February, 2009 by Yamaguchi Prefecture. A collaborative core hospital for medical practice involving liver diseases is a medical institution that plays a central role in the medical network of liver diseases among prefectures, and a center for liver diseases is an organization established to perform core hospital business. In order to appropriately offer quality medical care within the prefecture, it is necessary to improve medical practices and palliative care in medical institutes with a focus on hepatitis. Centers for liver diseases are in the process of establishing a link between family doctors and specialized medical institutes, a link between core hospitals for medical practice of liver diseases and other specialized medical institutes, as well as constructing a medical system corresponding to their own role.

Role of Center for Liver Disease
  1. 1. Offering general medical information related to liver diseases.
  2. 2. Collecting and offering information related to specialized medical institutes, etc., within the prefecture.
  3. 3. Holding workshops and lectures targeting health care professionals and local residents, as well as counseling and support related to liver diseases.
  4. 4. Establishing a place for consulting specialized medical institutes related to liver diseases.
