Center for Intractable Disorders(CID) began operation in September 2015. Our primary goal is to build an appropriate medical and consultation assistance structure by: 1) offering a variety of services to patients with intractable diseases, their families (caregivers) and healthcare providers (e.g., the provision of consultation support and information on intractable diseases, making contacts and adjustments relating to the securing of hospitals that admit these patients, etc.); 2) strengthening collaborations among medical institutions handling intractable diseases including base hospitals, core hospitals (the region’s key hospitals), cooperating hospitals, etc., as well as among various consultation institutions such as intractable disease consultation and support centers and public health centers. CID is housed on the third floor of the hospital’s outpatient building, and two staff members for intractable disease consultation works to carry out consultations and other operations. Consultations can be accepted by phone ,coming to an office or E-mail. Training sessions are also held, targeting healthcare providers engaged in intractable disease treatment, with the aim of enhancing the quality of these personnel.
